A Jacaranda FM listener wanted to know how Cholesterol Aid can help to manage cholesterol levels naturally.
The most important function of the Cholesterol Aid’s formula of homeopathic and herbal ingredients, is to lower unhealthy fat levels in the blood stream.
The anti-inflammatory properties of some ingredients, like Capsicum (Cayenne), aid in reducing the damage that inflammation can cause in blood vessels. Some of the herbs contain anti-oxidants which help to reduce the oxidation of cholesterol and thereby reduce “bad” cholesterol in the blood stream. Some of the herbs also improve blood circulation and help to reduce the risk of blood clots – blood clots may lead to heart attacks.
Cholesterol aid has additional benefits but we’ll mention those in a next post.

A Jacaranda FM listener wanted to know how Cayenne can help for pain relief and indigestion.
Cayenne is a brilliant herb for those who suffer from indigestion becasue it has an anti-septic and anti-microbial effect against some microbes like Helicobacter pylorii. H. pylorii has been implicated in as a causative bug in stomach ulcers and can lead to much discomfort and pain in the stomach and small intestines.
As mentioned in a previous post, Cayenne has an effect on the neurotransmitter Substance P, which is involved in pain regulation.
Cayenne may also stimulate the adrenal glands. When these important glands are not functioning properly, you may experience fatigue and it can even lead to fatigue or exhaustion syndrome. So, if you feel that your body needs a holiday after the festive season, Cayenne you certainly be a product that may be of benefit.

A Jacaranda FM listener wanted to know whether Flora Force Cayenne capsules contain the same cayenne pepper used for cooking and what other health benefits it may give in addition to the benefits it provides for heart health.
Yes, the capsules contain the same cayenne pepper that people use to cook with. The big difference is that you wouldn’t be able to tolerate the amount of cayenne needed to get a proper therapeutic effect – your mouth would REALLY be on fire.
Other health benefits of cayenne:
Cayenne is very popular because it is a very affordable, broad spectrum product which may be of benefit in heart disease, chronic pain, sore throats, high cholesterol, tooth ache and poor circulation.

A Radio Jacaranda FM listener wanted to know why the herb Cayenne can be recommended for heart disease…
One of the most important aspects of treating heart disease is reducing the risk of blood clot formation (thrombosis). A blood clot can have very far reaching detremental effects in someone suffering from heart disease with narrowing / hardening of arteries (atherosclerosis) and the circulation problems that accompany the condition.
Cayenne may help by virtue of it’s stimulating and strengthening effect to improve blood circulation and it’s anti-oxidant properties that may help to reduce inflammation – an important aspect of reducing the risk of developing heart disease.
Because cayenne has this stimulating effect on circulation, people who suffer from cold hands and feet may also find this herb of benefit.

The December holidays have hardly passed and Easter is around the corner. If you still feel the after effects of over indulgences of the festive season – you know, that sluggish & just can’t get going feeling – then the next couple of weeks should help you to get into gear again. I’ll share information about some herbs and natural supplements to support your health and get back into balance. The posts will be based on answers to questions from Radio Jacaranda FM listeners.
This week’s talk was about a herb which can be found in most people’s kitchen’s – Cayenne.
Cayenne
The herb Cayenne is a wonderful herb that provides many benefits. But most of us wouldn’t be able to eat the amount of cayenne pepper required to obtain or experience meaningful health benefits. That’s why it is important to take it in a capsule form in adequate doses, such as Flora Force Cayenne capsules.
Cayenne has stimulant effects and can help to improve metabolism and digestion. It can help to relieve indigestion – yes I know this probably hard to believe as you are probably thinking “wait a minute, it’s gonna GIVE me indigestion – but this is not so if taken in capsule form. On the contrary, some people find that it can actually help to alleviate bloating and heart burn type of stomach discomfort!
So cayenne can be very helpful if you feel worn out and sluggish after over indulging during the past festive season.
Cayenne contains capsaicin – an important active ingredient which regulates the release of the the neuro-transmitter “Substance P” from the brain. Increased activity of Substance P leads to increased pain impulses, so cayenne can help to down-regulate pain, especially if it is applied locally to sore joints and muscles.
Next week I’ll share how Cayenne supports the heart and cardiovascular system.
